Formats

About the formats

JPEG image
JPG (JPEG) is the most widely supported photo format. It uses lossy compression, so files are small and open everywhere, at the cost of some detail.
PNG image
PNG is a lossless image format with transparency support. It's ideal for screenshots, logos and graphics with sharp edges.
WebP image
WebP is Google's modern image format for the web. It supports lossy and lossless compression and transparency, and is usually smaller than JPG or PNG.
PDF document
PDF keeps a document's layout identical on every device, which makes it the standard for sharing and printing.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Will it always get under 500KB?

Almost always. It tries the best quality first and lowers it step by step until the PDF fits. If even the smallest version is bigger (for example a very long document), it tells you the smallest size it could reach.

My form says 500KB. Is "500KB" here the same?

Here 1 KB is 1,000 bytes, the stricter of the two meanings, so a file under 500KB here is also under 500KB on forms that count 1 KB as 1,024 bytes.

Are my files uploaded?

No. The conversion runs inside your browser using WebAssembly, so your files never leave your device. Nothing is sent to our servers.
